At The Sewing Room I run classes for all sewing abilities – if you’d like to learn dressmaking skills I teach absolute beginners, through to experienced ‘sewists’ who may need just a bit of specialist guidance or help with fitting.

The beginners classes: ‘Sewing for the Terrified’ & ‘Ready to Sew?’ are designed to give anyone interested in learning to sew, a thorough grounding in the basics. I aim to build student’s confidence in a logical step-by-step approach backed up (where appropriate) with notes and samples to refer back to.

The Specialized Workshops such as the ‘Zip Intensive’, focus in on some of the trickier stuff, breaking it down in an in-depth guided class.

For those with some experience who want to create patterns for themselves or more styles from a pattern that fits their unique shape, I run ‘Fabulous Fitting Parts I, II & III’.  In Part I we go through the process of measuring up and then transferring these measurements on to  a bought pattern to ensure it fits you.  Part II we take a look at creating different styles from patterns you already have and in Part III we draft your own personal bodice block.

I can run any class or workshop  ‘to order’  with a minimum of three people or if you  just need one hour of guidance through a tricky bit, how about a one-to-one lesson.  Get in touch and let me know what you’d like to learn.
